The number of Vodka brands, prices, and flavours in Nigeria can be overwhelming. The ubiquity is because it tastes like whatever you want to make it taste like. It can mix with almost anything; you can’t begin to count the number of cocktails that has vodka as its major ingredient.
The demand for this spirit has spawned varieties of brands. As someone who was once in the drinks business, you will be surprised when I begin to list out the brands of vodka that are in the market today. Some you will know but a very high number of them you wouldn’t have heard of. That’s for another day though because for this article we will be looking at the top-selling vodka brands here in Nigeria. Check them out below
Smirnoff vodka tops the list not only in Nigeria but worldwide. As a friend of mine will always say there are only two types of vodka in the world, and it’s Smirnoff and others. Smirnoff is owned and produced by the British company Diageo. It has over 35 flavours creating a variety for almost everyone. Smirnoff sells more than double the volume of its nearest competition.
Absolut Vodka is second on the list. It is produced in Sweden and owned by French group Pernod Ricardis. Absolut is the third largest brand of alcoholic spirits in the world after Bacardi and Smirnoff. It is quite popular among Nigerians. Absolut has a rich flavour, is smooth and mellow with a distinct character of grain. Absolut Vodka is great neat and ice-cold, on the rocks or as a base for hundreds of drinks and cocktails.
3. Magic Moments
Magic Moments Vodka is a triple distilled rice grain spirit from Radico Khaitan Ltd. (Radio Cask) who is one of India’s oldest and largest liquor manufacturers. Skyy Vodka is owned and produced by the Campari America division of Campari Group. Its price is quite affordable, making it a good option for those who might not want to spend so much on a bottle of vodka. Although the price is low, the taste isn’t. The Skyy range is quadruple distilled and triple filtered for a clean taste. In 2008, Skyy expanded the Skyy Vodka line with seventeen new flavours, referred to as Skyy Infusions. Some of the flavours currently sold include citrus, pineapple, blood orange, Vodka infused with Moscato grape, wild strawberry, Georgia peach, vanilla bean, cherry, dragon fruit, raspberry, passion fruit, coconut, and grape.
5. Grey Goose
Grey Goose is a brand of vodka produced in France and owned by Bacardi. It is one of the most popular luxury brands known for their excellent quality. It is clean and fresh, with a smooth, creamy texture. Grey Goose comes in different exotic flavours and contains up to 95% vodka and 5% Cognac. It is a top choice for many Nigerians.
Ciroc is considered as a drink for the wealthy guys because a bottle of it goes for almost the price of a carton of most of the Vodkas on this list. It is ultra-premium vodka that is manufactured and sold by Diageo. Made from snap-frost French grapes it stands out from other Vodkas in the sense that others are made with wheat, potatoes, or corn. It currently has eight flavours for customers to choose from.
