How To Make Cheddar Pear Pie
For me, cheddar just has a way of stepping down a spicy or acidic food in my mouth. It neutralizes salt, sugar, and makes a dessert feel like the healthiest meal. That’s how I like my cheddar cheese! But when you have to mix it a pear…, even I wanted to experiment with this recipe:
Ingredients
4 large ripe pears, peeled and sliced
1/4 cup sweetener
1 Tablespoon GMO-free cornstarch
1/8 t. sea salt
1 unbaked pie crust
TOPPING:
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup melted butter
1/4 cup organic sugar
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 425 F
- Combine the pears, organic sugar, cornstarch and salt
- Pour into your unbaked pie crust
- Mix all of the topping ingredients together and spread over the top of the filling
- Use some foil or a crust protector to keep your crust from becoming burnt and crispy
- Bake at 425 degrees for 25-30 minutes until cheese has melted and filling is bubbly
- Cool 10-15 minutes before serving
Tip: Can be served warm or chilled and can be store in the fridge
